Overview and FAQ

STEP B1 (Short Term Expediated Process) – 

  • Allows for a maximum of 45 days (consecutive) work days in a year.
  • Intended for countries that are free of entry visa requirement.
  • Processing is done within 6 work days. Minimal requirements.
  • Lower Government fees.
  • No extension available. May apply for other visa category only once assignee has departed Israel.

 

 Short Employment Authorization (SEA) B1 (up to 90-days) – 

  • Allows for a maximum of 90 (calendar) work days
  • Intended primarily for short term installations, technicians etc.
  • Process requires company application with multiple documents
  • Actual work period available may be slightly less than 3 months (typically 2.5 months).
  • Average processing of 30 work days. In case of missing documents/info – can be delayed an additional 21 work days.
  • No salary requirements.
  • Reduced government fees.
  • No extension or change of visa status (i.e. 12 month work permit) is allowed within 12 months of expiry.

 

12+ months B1 work permit (Foreign Specialist/Expert/Manager/Representative) 

  • Process requires company application with multiple documents
  • Average processing of 30 work days. In case of missing documents/info – can be delayed an additional 21 work days.
  • Assignee must hold the relevant expertise or very high ranking position or representative of a foreign/international company.
  • Minimum salary requirement – twice the average monthly pay in Israel (18,520 ~ILS)
  • Requires entry via an Israeli consulate or embassy (must apply with Police clearance certificate, medical tests and more).
  • Can be extended up to 5 years (63 Months max. In special circumstances may be extended further).
  • Allowed to bring dependent family members.
